After reading all the propaganda information provided by the government at a page about the four rivers project at Korea.net, I'm starting to wonder if perhaps I misjudged the whole thing. Just look at the delightful cartoons here and here, and perhaps your mind will change too!
I can't help but wonder what their motivation is. After all, foreigners can't vote, can't express their political opinion, and to my knowledge this story hasn't gotten a lot of play outside of Dae Han Min Guk. Are they trying to get our approval, or put something resembling fair information out to the foreign businessmen?
Who is the target audience for these cartoons I wonder? Are there Korean originals as well?
ReplyDeleteThe gold and silver "hoe" references in the second story wouldn't make much sense without knowing about the original folktale.
