The Joongang Ilbo has an interesting article about a British soldier killed in the Korean War... and his wife who was buried alongside him at the U.N. cemetery in Busan over 50 years later.

It's nice to hear that the family members' trips to Korea were supported by the Korean government.

  1. Approximately 50 veterans and their families visit from the UK each year with subsidies from the Korean government. In addition, Samsung made a donation to the British Korean Veterans Association which enables the BKVA to provide scholarships to two UK grad students to study in Korea each year and also to provide bursaries to 20-odd Korean middle/high school students in Gapyeong (a town near to the site of an important battle site for korean soldiers)

  2. And I wish Blogger would give the option for emailing of follow-up comments when I log in and not only after....

  3. I didn't know that - interesting. I wrote about the Battle of Kapyong awhile back, as it was the Canadian forces' most important battle in the Korean War.

And yeah... Blogger gets better... slowly.
